What is a Weakness Log, and why "clearing" wrong answers is the wrong instinct

A Weakness Log is a permanent, automatic record of every question a student has answered incorrectly, organised by subject and topic. Unlike a normal revision queue — which removes a question the moment it's answered correctly again — a Weakness Log never deletes that history. It marks the question as mastered on a date instead, so the evidence of what a student actually struggled with over a full term stays visible and filterable, right up until exam week.

Why most "wrong answer" tracking quietly fails you

Most revision apps and even most teachers' mark-books work the same way: get a question wrong, it goes on a list to revisit; get it right next time, it comes off the list. That feels like progress — but it also means the record disappears exactly when it becomes most useful. A month before an exam, "what did I actually struggle with all year?" is a much more useful question than "what did I get wrong this week?" — and a normal revision queue can't answer it, because it was designed to forget.

NORMAL REVISION QUEUE
  • Wrong answer added to a "revise this" list
  • Correct answer next time → removed from the list
  • No record of the mistake ever having happened
  • Can't see long-term patterns before an exam
AURA TYCOON'S WEAKNESS LOG
  • Wrong answer logged permanently, by subject and topic
  • Correct answer next time → marked "mastered on [date]," never deleted
  • Full history stays visible and filterable
  • See exactly which topics gave trouble across the whole year

How it works

  1. Answer a question wrong

It's automatically filed into the Weakness Log with its subject and chapter — no manual tracking needed.

  2. Filter by subject or status, any time

Before a test, filter the whole log down to just Biology, or just the topics still marked "still weak," instead of re-studying everything.

  3. Retry directly from the log

Every entry has a Try Again button that loads the original question back into the normal answer flow — correct it without leaving the log.

  4. It's marked mastered, not deleted

Getting it right again stamps the entry "mastered on [date]" and keeps it in your history — so the record of what you once struggled with never quietly disappears.

FAQ

Common questions

What is a Weakness Log?

A permanent, automatic record of every question a student has answered incorrectly, organised by subject and topic. It's never deleted once answered correctly again — it's marked mastered instead, with the date.

How is this different from a normal revision queue?

A normal queue removes a question the moment it's answered correctly, losing the record of what was actually struggled with. A Weakness Log keeps every entry permanently, so long-term patterns stay visible right up to exam week.

Can I filter it by subject or topic?

Yes — filter by subject and by whether a topic is still weak or already mastered, so revision focuses on genuinely weak areas rather than everything.

Can I retry a question directly from the log?

Yes. Every entry has a Try Again option that loads the original question back into the normal answer flow, so you can correct a past mistake without leaving the log.
